VoIP Phone

A VoIP Phone first appeared in the mid 1990s, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and is now being used by growing numbers of people reducing their phone call costs. VoIP phones are internet phones that send calls over the internet rather than conventional phone networks. A VoIP internet provides low cost calls that are significantly below those charged by phone companies and in many cases the calls may be provided as free VoIP. Free software downloads are available for IP phone upgrades once the system is installed.

VoIP software technology was initially developed in the late 1970s, but it took around 20 years to develop into a household service worldwide. Each time you make a phone call the VoIP router converts your voice into a stream of data transmitted via an advanced network security process. Then, this data stream travels over your broadband internet connection to transmit the call. Each bit of bundled data has a destination address of the person you're calling and transmits over the internet like a web page and file download. Once the destination has been reached  the data is converted back into sound waves. If the receiver you're calling is also using a VoIP service, the call will remain on the internet. Most VoIP also come with an allocated landline which allows people without a VoIP provider to call.

Low cost is the main area of benefit of a VoIP Phone and this is achieved because VoIP service providers don’t use opt to use telephone networks. Local and national calls are predominantly available for a single per-call charge, rather than being based on call time length except for international calls which are charged by the minute. Some VoIP Phone providers offer generous unlimited time international calling plans to specific countries.
